I'm Finished! Hurray!

Now it's time to go back to the starting line

This morning I finished the last chapter of ‘Rosie Lets Herself Go’. Book 6 in my A Rosie Life In Italy series. Hurray!

I write living memoir so I never know which part of my story will become the dominant arc until I am near the end of the book, then I go back and read through the chapters and figure out the natural conclusion. However, the ending of this one was as much a surprise to me as it will be to you! I had a choice of three different endings up until the weekend and then the new one swung in unexpectedly.

I really thought book 6 was going to be the last book in the A Rosie Life In Italy series, but when the new ending appeared, I realised there will have to be another one!

What I Do To Finish a Book:

I have been feeding blocks of chapters to my editor over the last few weeks for her to work on.

By the time I am finished the first draft, my editor has sent me back notes on the first batch of chapters, which I will work through and have finished just in time for her to send me the second batch of chapter edits and so on.

When I have applied all her edits and done my second read through, I will send the manuscript to Lucy, one of first ever readers who has become my proof reader buddy, and another longterm reader Rosemary, who is great at spotting inconsistencies or timeline wobbles!

I then send my book to a select group of arc readers so that they can have the book before launch date and are ready to post a review the day it comes out.

I will be sending the arc copy ‘Rosie Let’s Herself Go’ to my Fabulous Midlife Crisis Club members next week (these pay $7 per month in a Substack subscription fee to support my writing and get extra Rosie stuff each month, plus first reads of my books!)
